Cabo with Young Kids

My family and I recently took a vacation to Cabo, Mexico. Before going I did my typical research and investigation into what to do where to eat etc. but to my surprise I was not able to find much that we would be able
To do with my 2 young children ( 2yrs and 4yrs). So I decided that I would write a post and maybe someone would find it helpful.
Where to stay..
Cabo San Lucus is not known for beaches, due to bad rip current, cliffs and rocky shores. Their are really only 2 beaches for swimming. However…. Los Cabos has beautiful beaches with less rocks and cliffs. The undertow can still be an issue so it’s best not to go too deep. It’s an up and coming area which you can tell from all the construction.
We stayed at the Hilton Los Cabos, using our timeshare to trade. They have regular hotel rooms and rooms that have a kitchen and bedroom which we had. This was a great set up for us so we can do breakfast and lunch from our room and dinner out. This saves a lot of money.
The property was nice with 2 pool areas. They did not have a kids pool but there was a small area in the main pool that was shallow enough for my two year old to touch and walk around. We never had a problem finding open lounge chairs and they had towels always available. Both pools had bars with food and you could get drink and food service at your lounge chair.
The hotel also has a kids zone. It’s next to a playground area. They have a number of games set up outside. Large size Chess, ping ping, soccer, corn hole, and more. There is an inside area that is manned by two ladies that are really sweet. The kids can color, play air hockey, and table soccer. They have a calendar of the activities everyday crafts and games and what times they are.
There is also a cart with ceramics to paint. This does cost about $5+ each piece depending on what you pick. The girl takes them home and glazes them and you pick them up the next day. ( just on a side note she does embellish them a bit, but my kids didn’t seem to care) this seems like a hidden area and I don’t know why the resort doesn’t let people know about it, we just found it on chance.
The restaurants at the resort where all good. The one thing that stood out was the breakfast buffet, not only was it huge it also had options for people with food allergies. There where a ton of dairy free options for my kids, who both have dairy allergy, but they also had gluten free stuff too. Best part ….. Kids ate free! Woohoo!
One of my favorites was also the Dolce like a little deli shop, kind of Starbucks meets grocery store and gelato shop all in one. Yeah now you know why it was one of my favorites. We went there just about everyday for our afternoon coffee.
Things to do:
We did the glass bottom boat tour. This was good because we got to see all the landmarks that Cabo is known for ( lands end, lovers beach, window on the pacific) and the kids got to see the fish. There are about a thousand guys selling the tours all throughout the marina. It’s around $15pp, but it is definitely negotiable.
We wanted to do the submarine but it was all booked up and we where leaving the next day, but it did get good reviews.
The glass factory tour was cool and the kids enjoyed it too. We just drove there ourselves. You go through the store into a back area and you see it’s all set up with chairs. There is no charge just a tip for the guys. They made a piece with a flower and humming bird, then they let my husband try. We bought some glasses and a Christmas decoration and headed out. There was a tour that came when we where there and it seems like they got the same that we did.
The buccaneer pirate ship if you ask my kids they would both probably tell you that this was there favorite thing. It was entertaining the whole time. There where pirate fights, dancing, silk acts and guys jumping off boats, it was a ton of fun. I think it was 89 for adults and the kids where free! ( gosh I love that word…. Freeeeeee) but since it was Mother’s Day in Mexico I was free 🙂 ( there is that word again) so the whole thing cost us just 89 for show and dinner.
There are 2 beaches Chileno beach which is one of the cleanest beaches and you can bring your own snorkel gear.
MedAno beach has lots of bars and restaurants. It is one of the busiest and most popular beaches.
Whale watching and the turtles hatching are also good things for the kids to do but unfortunately neither was in season.
There are a few places that you can swim with the Dolphins. We choose not to do it but  I think there are at least 2 place. One is in a pool and the other is in the ocean.

My favorite part…..foooooood! Yum!
One of the most famous places that you will hear about for food is The Office. It has tables in the sand on the beach. The food is good and the atmosphere is relaxed. They have a band that goes table to table and sings. From what I have heard they have different entertainment all the time. It is definitely worth a visit. It is also located on one of the few beaches that allow swimming, Madano beach.
My favorite restaurant is a tie! It’s between Flora Farms and Taco Guss. These two places could not be more different but have one main thing in common, amazing food.
